Officers are dispatched to calls for service by the QuadCom Regional Dispatch Center located in Carpentersville. This center is a 9-1-1 emergency dispatch system which serves 5 police agencies and 4 fire agencies. On average, the Department receives approximately 8,000 calls for service throughout the year.
In addition to the regular law enforcement activities, the Police Department offers the following programs:
Dogs over four months of age must be licensed by the Village within 30 days of moving in. Proof of a valid rabies inoculation is required. A one-year tag is available with a one-year rabies inoculation for $10.00, and a three-year tag is available with a three-year inoculation for $20.00. Dog tags may be purchased at the Police Department or at the Village Hall.
The Village of West Dundee maintains two Red Light Cameras, at Route 31 & Boncosky Road, and at Route 31 & Route 72. For more information about the program, as well as the most recent crash statistics for these intersections, please visit the Budgets & Reports page.
The Red Light Photo Enforcement Program is administered by a third-party entity, RedSpeed USA. Every potential violation that is captured on camera is reviewed by a West Dundee Police Officer to determine whether or not a violation is issued. If a violation is issued, that same video clip is made available to view online. The violation number and license plate or violation PIN are needed to view such video. Video can also be reviewed with an officer upon request.
Violation payments cannot be made directly to the Village of West Dundee. Payment options are as follows:
Residents can report minor traffic violations to the Police Department by completing a Neighborhood Traffic Violation Reporting Form regarding specific vehicles. Please note the following general guidelines.
